Derek - Series 1 Page 5

Rehousing, because you're giving them some where to live not necessarily being responsible for care, money etc.

Look I apprecaite some people liked it. It's another simple minded, warm hearted sitcom like Mrs. Brown's Boys or Miranda etc. Comedy has trends and easy going, affectionate humour is the fashion these days. Who am I to argue 14 million people watched Mrs. Brown's Boys last week.

And in that role it does a perfectly good job. I just haven't met anyone with autism, learning disabilities or other neurological condition who's had a kind or appreciative word to say about it. I know that doesn't matter a fig in these cheery, all in it together days. But still seems a shame and all I can say is I wish more people watched The Undateables instead.

Ahh, of course. Thanks.

I bet Ricky watches that. And Karl, but for different reasons.

I guess they do. It's just so sweet, funny and real and I dunno makes you care about real people and how funny they can be.

Derek feels a very erzatz version.

Nicky Clark's thoughts (the mother of disabled kids, and a disability campaigner).

(Not the hairdresser.)

Hoist by my own petards on that one.

Sounds painful!

Going to have to take you to task on that one. A short while ago I used that expression at a pub meet and you corrected me for saying "petard", when according to you the expression was "petards". I've since looked it up and discovered I was correct all along. Guess that makes me the petard (bomb).

It's not a documentary though

But it purports to be.

It's equally accurate, a petard means a bomb or fart and is mediaeval in origin and is fitst mentioned as a joke in Richard III.

Like your mum

This.

Although knowing that The Undateables is actual documentary whilst Derek is just a comedy spoofing the format probably influences one's connection with the show, or lack thereof.

An excellent series.

That dog's tail totally did look like a sausage.

But it purports to be.

Like with Modern Family, I totally disregard that when I'm watching.

Derek is a cross between a mockumentry and shite. It's more of the latter in my opinion. As for Karl pecker head Pilkington, he is as funny as a dose of anal flu which you will catch if you watch Derek. You have been warned. ;) ;)

Hamlet.

And the fact is that the petard in the expression isn't pluralised, unless you're deliberately quoting it wrong? (In which case using your error to 'correct' someone seems a bit off base.)

Basically what I'm saying is that your momma quotes Shakespeare so bad she sees a dogger before her.

Anyway, how about that Derek?

Derek - what can I say? Warm with some comical moments. Not the best thing ever but I'll be watching the rest of the series.
