Hello to you sitcom missioners, any news on the competition? Wave

And hello to you. Good to hear from you.

We're developing our 8 scripts at the moment. We've been showing them to various industry insiders, getting their feedback and passing it on to the writers. They've been redrafting based on that (and our) feedback.

It's a lot more work for everybody than just taking the 8 best scripts and staging them without any development, but we think it's going to benefit everybody.

Not least the audience.

Hello all

There are a few spaces left next Wednesday (Sept 11) for the taster evening for our Introduction to Sitcom Writing course at the City Academy. The 8-week course starts on October 23.

Further details are here: http://www.city-academy.com/taster-sitcom-writing

And here are some quotes from previous attendees:

"Friendly, open, funny, inclusive. We got the skills in 8 short weeks to progress faster than I believed."

"You brought a disparate group of randoms together to talk about, write about and think about sitcom writing. That's difficult to achieve."

"Great exercises during class."

"Great tutors - very helpful and down to earth."

We're delighted to announce that Ben Boyer, Head of Comedy Development at Sky TV, will be on the judging panel at our Grand Final Showcase on October 17.

More names to come.

UPDATE: We're very excited that Chris Sussman, Executive Editor, BBC Comedy Commissioning, has also agreed to be on the panel. Here are some of Chris's thoughts on writing comedy:

Before these excellent people get to see our 4 finalists at the Diorama on October 17th, we're going to be showcasing all the shortlisted scripts at the Union Tavern on October 3rd at 7:30.

Tickets are just a fiver and you'll be able to reserve yours when we set up a paypal button on Friday.

Terrific show last night hosted by the ever-excellent Bob and Jim.Why aren't they major stars? They should be.

We've whittled our 7 scripts down to 4 and the results will be up here shortly.

OK folks, the 4 sitcoms that will be read at the industry final are:

Fletcher Mallard Chris Tindall

Girlband Those Three Girls

Jack Knightly Colin McQuaid

Skidmore James Crookes & Christian Hawksworth

Congrats to them and commiserations to those who didn't quite make it. The standard was really high this year, and to reach the semis was a real achievement.

Hey guys

Sure you are hard at it ensuring it's a fantastic day on Thursday.

How did the rehearsals go?

Hi Chris

Rehearsals went well, we're very happy with the length of scripts now and are looking forward to Thursday.

Saskia Schuster, Sky's Comedy Commissioning Executive, has replaced Ben Boyer on the judging panel.

Cheers, Declan

Hey, good luck today everyone. Knock 'em dead.

Thanks Neil, hugely appreciated.

Yeah. Good luck to all. Enjoy!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who was involved in today's Sitcom Mission Showcase at the New Diorama Theatre. We're really proud of all our writers and are hugely grateful to our actors for an excellent show.

And the winner of The Sitcom Mission 2013 is...

Girlband by Those Three Girls

One of the judges said, "I didn't want it to end." We are proud.

Congrats to them and good luck on the next steps on the journey.

We're going to take a nice long break... hang on, we're teaching our 8-week course Introduction to Sitcom Writing at City Academy starting next Wednesday.

Congrats again to all the writers. And thanks, we had a blast. Let's do it again next year.

One production company emailed us after the show and asked to see two of the four scripts.
