So how competitive are you?

Another thread got me thinking on this are you competitive? Do you like entering competitions and seeing how much you can in comparison with others?

Funnily enough I'm not. And as such I generally avoid competition. Which I think it means I miss out opportunities and it affects my work, because I'm not a perfectionist and that lowers the quality of my work.

Or do I get more from just going for jobs where people actually want the skills I bring?

Does one get forged in the fires of contest or does it just burn you out?

I'm not that competitive usually. But I can get genuinely annoyed if I'm playing a board game or computer game and keep losing. If I lose several times in a row and the person I'm playing starts getting cocky or smug or laughing at me, oh woe betide them.

Well I don't like losing as I take it as a massive blow to my ego. I get over it eventually though. I can't remember the last time I competed for anything though. Anything I cared about anyway.

It's weird with some one of the online writing sites I use, I genuinely hate some of the people who beat me to jobs. Even though I've never and probably never will meet them. And in all likelihood they're quite nice people I have a lot in common with.

Well considering I am rubbish at literaly every activity available to a human being

Not competitive at all

"could not load movie"

See what I mean? :(

Mind you, losing or getting humiliated is like having my testicles pierced with a pair of knitting needles. But often when I finished doing something (writing, sports training, studying etc.) I get the feeling that competing with others is the next logical step. I (often) can't do things just for myself. "What's the point in being a good tennis player without playing a match".

None of you is less competitive than me!

Last year I worked for the most competitive women ever, so much so she even had to "win" conversations. Even with people with cancer. She was the worst human being I have ever met. I'm not saying all competitive people are turds, but she was.

I must be a bit competitive as I'm drawn to things like caption competitions and the skit comp but it's the enjoyment of making something up but yes there's a boost when you do well. At work I'm not competitive then again it's not really that type of job.
Not bothered if I'm thrashed at scrabble or board games etc but get pissed if people don't pay attention or deliberately spoil the game or worse still...ignore the rules!

I'm the same with board games, they are down to luck so I have no control over the outcome. I love team sports, not bothered about losing if we gave it our all but woe betide any team mates that didn't.

In my job I get feedback forms every day and it really cheeses me off when people complain about how cold the room /tea was. I don't care!

I didn't think of myself as competitive until I started playing Words with Friends. Then I realised I was like a two-balled Lance Armstrong.

I think most people are competitive they just don't notice it because in the areas that are important to them they usually achieve the result they want.
