Newsjack - Series 8 Page 6

Well this thread has stopped me moping and I intend to sent 50 sketches to this new show and see how I get on. I think my biggest fault is that I feel sorry for myself instead of being proactive enough.

Teddy, this is the internet - Never apologise, never explain, never learn.
Now, up and at 'em soldier!

probably best to choose your best three of the 50 otherwise they'll have you down as some sort of deranged wannabe who hasn't read the submission guidelines.

Well they did say ten per episode for the new show...unless you mean Newsjack in which case they'd be right in their deranged assessment.

Go for it Teddy, I really like the stuff I've seen from you on Critique.

I read the guidelines and it said five sections with ten submissions so I based my statement on that, sadly I am a wannabe, but I suspect all who enter are so it's a level playing field in that respect.

On the deranged front I don't follow? I do not consider fifty sketches to be over the top, we all have at least half that on file through posting on here, then jazz up a less strong five from the rest and all you left with is twenty which is one day so the jobs a good un.

Well done Teddy, that's the spirit.

99% of being successful at anything is hard work and getting it done.

Now if only I could live by my own advice...

And remember - at least us working class riff-raff can get writing credits on this, even if it seems a bit 'middle class' to listen to :)

Sketches need to be topical so those on file not really appropriate, altho I appreciate stuff comes back into the news like phone jacking, royal weddings etc. Could certainly use the premise for a sketch again and adapt it.

I've not read that bit that says 5 sections of 10, infact I'm not prepared for this episode at all (may do some one-liners on monday/tuesday) but the breakdown would be about 50/50 sketchs and one-liners.
(or 60-40 if its five sections)

It's the new show that's got the ten sketches.

Sorry if someone already asked but is Newsjack on Wednesdays now?

Nope, the best of the previous series thingy is on this Wednesday, Series 8 proper starts the following night at the usual time and place. :)

I've sent my three sketches in. Still working through the one-liners.

I've still got a ticket for Wednesday's recording (13th) if anyone's interested.

Cheers

New to the forum although I have lurked for a while. Had a good laugh reading through the newsjack threads, some great stuff on here, not surprising some of it has made it on air. Stuck my three in (ooh er) so fingers crossed. First year I have had a crack at this, watching the news will never be the same again...

One sketch off. I really don't seem to be able to get more than that written by Sunday night.
