Second attempt at animated comedy

A few weeks ago I posted a link to the first animated short I have produced. Using some of the feedback that I received from it, I have produced a second animated short.

Again, any feedback or opinions that anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

You drawing, voices and writing are fine from what I could see and I appreciate why your characters aren't overly animated.

BUT

and it's a big

BUT

It's far too long. Over 9 minutes? Why not split it into 1 minute cartoons, have 9 episodes and 9 more potentials at it spreading around, being shared, linked to, emailed, and Facebooked.

No one has 9 minutes attention on the internet. In that time I could have made a bid on eBay, updated my Facebook status, tweeted, had a wank and took out a loan whilst at the same time torrenting the Hobbit.

I see and appreciate your point. I think that the biggest thing I have learned from both videos is the importance of timing.

For the past year I have been writing and working on an episodic show, and all the feedback I have received has been applied to that. I was going to go with 5 minute episodes, but do you think that that is still too long?

With every 30 seconds of video you will loose half of your viewers.

Make a 3 second gif you could potentially reach hundreds and thousands.

Make a 1 minute film, maybe the same?

Make a 3 minute film, half that amount unless it's a music video.

Make a 5 minutes film, expect a few hundred views.

Make a 5+ min and you'll probably be in the 10's from family and friends.

That's just my opinion and I'm probably waaay of. It really depends on who you want to be watching this? Fellow animators and writers will have more patience. Some random person on their smartphone will not have much.

Having a lot of 1 minute videos will give you a better looking portfolio too and fill up your YouTube channel better.

Just something to think about, good luck with it all.

Too Long Make shorts and probably just keep to the same person every time though
