Early preview of my book Page 2

I read the blurb, and the sample pages.

I have to agree with the above, on the word 'comical'. It puts pressure on the book to be funny, when it reads more like a dry, under-stated observational/philisophical piece.

Again, I would also echo what the others said about the Amazon birthday quote.

This seems to be a book that isn't really going to be full of snappy soundbites. I'd probably drop the birthday from the blurb, as it doesn't really represent the book's (the sample at least) slow-burning nature.

From reading the sample, I suspect the book is better than the advert makes it sound. Which is obviously the complete opposite of what you want from an advert (or any promotional material).

To celebrate getting a new touch-screen this weekend, I will get this as it's only 2 quid.

Well done on getting something officially written. Hopefully more contributors on Critique will follow this lead, rather than merely writing things to fall without trace down the pages of an internet forum.

It would be sad for aspiring writers to reach their later years, and kick themselves for never taking a shot in their 20's, 30's or 40's.

Minty, can I ask how you went about producing this book for Kindle? What was the basic process and expense? Did you feel that you made any mistakes and would approach anything differently, if you were to write a second book?

Don't be put off by miniscule early sales, As I imagine that it's the same story for virtually every debut book sold in online format.

Well done on getting this written down and out there. I particularly liked the reviews. Even if they are obviously made up.

Cheers Steven.

You won't believe me, but they are definitely not made up, I do know two of the people though and they posted without speaking to me at all. I have no interest in posting fake reviews, I have confidence in the book and it will sell itself once people know it is there

Hence the free promotion today

There are surely more than 400K Kindles. Try non-fiction books if you want to be a best seller easily, no one writes them...
