BBC Transgender Comedy Writing Competition...FFS!! Page 12

This, I agree with.

Apart from the bit about this being positive discrimination?

Its not there aren't literally hundreds of comedy awards out there. I know I keep repeating myself...but in the grand scheme of things this comp is not a sign that the white male conedy writer is in trouble.

I wasn't really clear. It's not that I'm suggesting that the opportunity, in itself, is positive discrimination... It's clearly not. Rather it was in reply to the suggestions of some posters that it is.
I have no experience or knowledge of transgender issues or discrimination but it seems easy enough to imagine what those might be... IF you can manage to think about it seriously for more than five seconds before reaching a 'conclusion'
It might be helpful, for some, to first try and imagine what being transgender actually is and go from there... Then some would more easily be able to consider what obstacles transgender people have to face. It just seems a pity that some people seem to only be able to focus on genitals, that's just weird.
It is interesting though how some people can come to consider an issue from a position of ignorance ( as I have myself ) and after the full weight of their own musings come to a point where they appear to be even more ignorant! Or maybe there is another 'agenda' behind some remarks?

People like me are killed almost every day for being trans. People like me in places like america and other countrys can't vote because their government won't recognise their true gender (and can still happen here, but we actually have legal protection, but that doesn't always get sorted before the polls shut) and people like me are refused service in places and refused access to the correct toilets all the time.

I think you are just trolling now. I specifically said the UK in all of my recent postings. Just because some ladyboy in Thailand gets caught up in drugs and prostitution and ends getting killed (same as non-TG peeps) then it's not a hate crime.

If you have been refused service in places or not allowed to use the ladies lavvy, then it is not the same as being petrol bombed. You know it and I know it. Please spare me the 'victim' routine.

You have 'obstacles' much in the same way morbidly obese or facially disfigured people do. They too suffer from depression and need surgery to enjoy a happy life. Yes, it's tragic, but it's not the same as racism or targeted killings.

Anyway, you are taking this subject way off topic. Stick to talking about the writing competition or I'm not playing anymore.

Ah, sorry, I was in a rage...

I have no problems with people not knowing anything. Just got a problem with people who claim to know something when they don't.

Well, I hope when you meet someone like me (and chances are you already have or you are going to, I garentee it) that you grow up a little and learn something. Or at least let yourself learn something and stop acting like...well, this.

I will leave this thread on a joke.

What do you call the trans woman at the bus stop?

Nothing, you f**king transphobe.

I think it is time for you to give it a rest too.

Sympathy or a will to understand long since went out of the window.

This thread is just a tad f**king depressing.

I mean, it started off that way, but it has descended off into something else entirely.

Just another hundred jokes like this (or possibly better?) and you've got an entry for the competition.

Why call it a trans woman anyway? That is very offensive. It should be "woman who happens to be transsexual"...

What do you call a transexual with a v8 engine? Trans Anne

My father was actually trans-gender, but I never saw much of him during my childhood.

He was trans-parent.

Horrific, isn't it?

But at least it isn't "Grandma's House is funny. I like Grandma's House" like 99.99%* of the posts on this forum.

It's quite 'Blue Jam' in its pathetic bleakness.

I'm going to print this thread out and send it in as my entry.

*there's a smart-arse transgender joke here.....

When ever I go to mass the priest switches gender

Its transubstantiastion

I went to Thailand to have my Wilkins removed.

It was a stick-shift trans-mission.

My radio is actually a nun that was in the French resistance as and changed its gender its a trans sister radio

My doctor gave me some nice flowers, but with the stamens cut off.

He said I was top of the waiting list for a transplant.

-----------

I called up my old university to ask them for a transcript.

"What do you need it for?" asked the woman on the other end of the phone.

I told her that I was a lazy necrophile, with a penchant for ladyboys.

...may be losing an audience...
