Now that Chris Langham have been convicted of downloading child porn but acquitted of the more serious charges of indecently assaulting an underage girl and two counts of a serious sexual offence, can we accept his explanation and welcome his back on our screens?
Langham, can we forgive him?
Yes, if it was a nationally broadcast hanging.
The only thing he's been found guilty of is what he admitted doing. Looking at pictures. I believe him that he's not a paedophile, and that he had other reasons for looking at it.
I'd be happy to see him back on screen, myself.
He's been an idiot though.
(Yes I know, some people are going to say 'idiot' is a massive understatement)
The whole story is a thoroughly unpleasant one. Downloading and looking at child pornography is clearly thoroughly reprehensible and the jury had no real option other than to find him guilty, and to have a relationship with a young, vulnerable girl (even if she was just about legal) is also horrible.
To see him immediately back on TV screens would be tantamount to saying that downloading child pornography is not that bad.

He was found not guilty of that.
(Wasn't he?)
What was the sitcom with Paul Whitehouse? I did like it and you can understand that for some of the characters he'd have to do research.
I'm not saying right or wrong because I really don't know the truth.
Yeah, unless we were on the jury, we can't really know. If then.
It was called Help, by the way.
I needed "Help" for that didn't I? Ha ha ha!

(That actually did make me laugh.)
Chris Hang'em!
I'll feel quite uncomfortable watching him now, I loved People Like Us and I'm glad he didn't appear on screen
I wouldn't want to see him on tv again and couldn't imagine any reason to embrace him or any of his characters, he's lost any likability factor, which I think you need to sympathize with any character, even if that character is a bad guy.
He was a great actor, but a disturbed one. Shame that horrible childhoods and comedy seem to go so well together
Yeah look at Michael Jackson, he's hilarious!
Anything's possible, I've seen a war criminal been given a standing ovation when he stepped down.

Quote: Godot Taxis @ August 2, 2007, 11:32 PMIt's strange that the jury can look at the images but not go to prison, though, isn't it? Or is it?
Not really its evidence and they have to see it, just like the brave police officers who work in that sector.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. My Aunt Doreen is always downloading pictures of minor's to satisfy her sexual needs........Her favourite is Scargill. She loves his helmet.
