British Comedy Guide

I am ranting & I dont care.

Right I am fooked right off.
Did you know that our British Army, supposedly one of the best in the world. Supply a very basic kit to our soldiers. To enhance it, they have to pay.

Now this I admit has come to my attention because of my son but fook sake.

Am I the only one that see's a serious problem here????????????????

I remember hearing something a while ago about them not having enough basic protective gear to share around.
F*cking unbelievable, really.

Charley, it's totally unjustified. They send our troops all round the world and don't even give them the tools to do the job. :(

If you want to raise a petition you know i'll be first to sign it for you.

Yes thats right Zooo. My cousin is also in the Army. He is 23. He has spent hundreds on improving his equiptment. The basic shite they give our soldiers is SHITE.

Thanks guys for replying so quickly. I just wanted to bring this to your attention.
My son was looking at a link that was (I am told this second hand so may be wrong) set up for the guys to have a way of communicating home.it has now become something else. (I am told, pls dont quote me).

The Taliban now post on it.

I urge everyone to watch this to the end. I am not in agreement with our connection to this war. Nor our involvement. However, I do want our British troops to have more respect. Not from the people of Britain. Their respect is obvious. I am talking from our so called government.

Thanks SlagA for your response. Thank you.xxx

Ii think its appalling that troops come home to people telling them their butchers and have no right doing their duty. It's really sick. When I was an army brat there were always long haired druids protesting outside the base and it's what the guys ae fighting for is the right for those greasy f**ks to do that...Sorry guys its really annoying. I really am amazed about the equipment issue how about we take a chunk of money of those greedy useless waste of space footballers and give it to the soilders instead.

Good idea Gavin.
For basic training my son has spent £200 so far on the shit he needs.
While that i suppose is quite fair, I mean they lose a lot of recruits. The fact that a warmer jacket or a better pair of shoes can be brought, for our guys out fighting, is unreal. I mean do the guys in Mcdonalds have to buy a more suitable uniform. It is sick.

I tell you I have been blind. I suppose it takes one of your own to go in, to see it.

I know nothing about nothing, about nothing.

But if this is what happens, that's pretty shitty. Maybe they should spend less on them bloody adverts recruiting new people and concentrate on the ones they already have.

You have to wonder why the Government are willing to upgrade Trident but not the kit of Army soldiers. The government have it backwards on so many issues but matters of life and death such as these should be no brainers GIVE THEM THE BEST KIT MONEY CAN BYE!

Parliament sees the armed forces as 'grunts' who are just there to do as they are told, 'die for your country' etc. what a wheeze that they also get them to pay for their own kit... they must have a few laughs about that in the bars at 'The House'...

The only time the armed forces get any respect from Parliament is when they die ... and even that is only a show...

But get real guys, it's always been like that...

Do you think they got good kit in WW1 and WW2?

Anyway, fact is I totally agree with you Charley, but sadly it's always been that way including collateral damage and troops of all sides doing unmentionable things to civilians. As much as we don't like it, it's a consequence of men being sent to war by politicians like Blair and Bush who don't know the first thing about the military.

Max Hastings wrote an excellent book about the second world war. Very descriptive and brutally honest leaving the reader in no doubt that everything that happens today is only repeating what happened before, and it makes for terrifying reading.

Get the troops home - NOW!

I agree with you Charley. It is a really serious problem and if you do get a petition together, I'd sign.

I've read things in the papers and seen bits on TV, but it really takes an insider's view to get the full picture.

I have the greatest respect for your son and cousin Charley and anyone else with army links. It's a really tough job and the very least the government can do is to make sure their needs are met.

I'm totally against our involvement in this war.

It's a shame we don't have a General Discussion area for this sort of thing. Rolling eyes

They are pulling our troops out of Iraq but Afghanistan requires more troops. That is where my son will be sent. According to some reports I have read that place is worse.
Thanks to all who made comments.
Frankie Rage I see where you are coming from but we are now well into 2007. There are reports on guys having to buy their own dressings for cuts etc.
I have only media reports to go on as to why we are involved in these wars. A soldier signs up to protect this country. I cant see anywhere why Afghanistan is a HUGE problem to us. Soldiers are realising this everyday, and hesitating gets our lads killed.

Well it's a new millenium OK Charley but as far as I can see, for our forces it's just the same old shit... different bucket (year)

I can see why we as a country might feel we need to intervene outside the UK as historically we have intervened all too often elsewhere in the world and have helped to create a lot of the mess in the first place, so maybe there is an obligation somewhere that we need to go and help try and clear it up.

I personally think that we should pull all our troops back from every location outside the UK and think again.

My point earlier was simply that in my opinion Parliament don't care about the welfare of our troops (save how it affects them politically) and that historically they never have cared, except superficially.

Of course, the families of our forces care about their own sons and daughters welfare, that's natural but Parliamentarians don't... they just care about their own families...

I wonder how many MP's kids are in Iraq/Afghanistan?
