I've had the same problem. The page content is all worthwhile but there are difficulties loading and that goes for the page itself, not just the forums (which are reeeaaallly slow).

We studied the licensing issues too but our view was that if 4laughs did want to use our content on Channel 4 or third party sites we'd have been only too happy to see it used! We felt that if they did use it we might be able to leverage paid work out of it with new material...
I just tired to go to 4 laughs and got this message 'No suitable nodes are available to serve your request.'
