Why does anyone need religion? Page 6

Or you could take the view that Chuck Norris describes himself as a "God fearing Christian"

so maybe respect the one man Chuck fears?

Oh well, Chuck Norris...now you let me know that things are different.

If Chuck fears God then God must be some woman. I mean doesn't even the bogeyman check his wardrobe for Chuck Norris each night before going to sleep?

I just think the danger that if religions day is over, and I assuredly think that is the case.
Then I worry we may dancing and singing in victory so loudly we ignore what the new orthodoxies are and fail to challenge them adequately.
Pretending that as you are not religious you don't subscribe to a system of belief. Is like saying because you don't ride an oxcart you're not going anywhere.
nb the Tea Party Christianity and Islamist Islam are really far more political belief systems than religions.

You don't need to follow anyone, You're all individuals!

:D

I am a confirmed atheist and yet I like that we have churches and religion.
I think weddings are not the same if not done in church. It's an enjoyable ceremony.
The same for Christenings.

And as an ex-choirboy I still love to belt out all the hymns.
It's over 40 years since I wore albs? and surplices but I still remember all the words.

Songs of praise was a favourite show for me on Sunday.

I am a confirmed atheist

Does that involve annointing?

as an ex choir boy myself I still stammer and walk with a limp.

Just had a word with Ricky about this, he said

"@rickygervais - I am never going to stop pointing out the idiotic and often hateful things some brainwashed believers say. You have the option to unfollow. "

How can RG be an aetheist if he

1 Thinks he's God
2 Clearly believes in himself.

Much as I find tyrannical athiests unbearable, he does have a point. Someone like Ricky Gervais is only as in-your-face as you're prepared to let him be.

Aw, soots. You don't believe in yourself?

You can be whatever you want to be :)

True. Dawkins is less-escapable unfortunately...

Somebody altered my post and capitalized the word 'christenings' (which I purposely left lowercase)
Was this an act of god?

That isn't the problem. We all like satirisation of hateful and the brainwashed. He attacks the nice ones too though. He looks down on them as though they are stupid for believing in a deity. That's what I don't like about him.
That and the fact that he won't shut up about the fact that he's an atheist. Even in his own sitcoms...
I mean not even Sir Cliff goes on about his beliefs as much as RG

I find him easy enough to tune out. His acolytes less so.

Dawkins - never trust anyone who is that certain. As for Gervaise I don't twat precisely because I'm not interested in the philosophical outlooks of total tits.

If this is an act of God that's your insurance buggered! Contact lawyers for Sue and complain God's muddying the waters again. :D
