NJ: Kay Burley

KAY:
The time's eight thirty, I'm Kay Burley and this is Sky News. Coming up...

PRODUCER:
Hold it! Kay - what do you think you're doing?

KAY:
Well... my job... of course.

PRODUCER:
(SIGHS) Oh, don't tell me they haven't told you!

KAY:
Told me what?

PRODUCER:
Okay, how can I put this delicately... GET OUT - YOU EVIL, EVIL WITCH!

KAY:
Excuse me?

PRODUCER:
Okay, let me rephrase that... LEAVE! NOW! AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!

KAY:
Are you... firing me?

PRODUCER:
(LAUGHS) No, no, no... you've got the wrong end of the stick! It's RUPERT who's firing you!

KAY:
(HOLDING BACK TEARS) But... why? Was it something I said?

PRODUCER:
Err... yeah! That's pretty much it!

KAY:
(SOBBING) You know... you could've told me this off-air!

PRODUCER:
Yeah, well I guess I'm a bit of a sadist too!

Not bad at all.

Enjoyed the premise of seeing Kay Burley suffer, but for a Kay Burley bit to work I think you have to draw upon her own style of vicious bluntness to get laughs. So she really get a taste of her own medicine I'd have the person firing her act more like Kay does to her interviewees. Have him start a conversation with her about something pleasant before transmission, then bluntly interrupting the broadcast and dumping her from the station live on air.

I'd also use the heavier GET OUT YOU WITCH stuff as a final line as I think it'd have more impact there.
