Beyond Our Ken

Witty, silly and fabulous. Truly one of the shows that had set the standard. Has anyone else heard it?

Beyond our Ken and Round the Horne are benchmarks for radio comedy of the sixties. Kenneth Horne was one of the great amateur performers of his day, Much Binding in the Marsh being his other major work. It had a dream cast, dream writers and was adept at staying below the BBC's censorship radar. Kenneth Williams, Ron Moody, the sublime Betty Marsden, the tragically underrated Hugh Paddock, a true classic.

Any excuse for a picture

He was in a field of his own.

Aaron done a funny !

Bona !

Let's be honest. Jules and Sandy have stood the test of time. The rest has dated.

With the exception of Kenneth's hernia in the photo a few posts above....

Yes - I think this pre-dated Round the Horne.

I used to listen to this with my parents on a Sunday lunch time - although most of it I never understood.
