Rise of the sketches from hell! Page 3

Im more than a little sad at thw tetchiness of the ki krew at what was no morw rhan than a passing gag. I joke at most passong trends most often myself but also podfasts what ever. And generalgly people take it in the tone intnded but yo guys seem to have thinner skins and a higher sense of entitlement. Where do you get that fom?

I'm not being tetchy

I was just saying how I myself would interpret the premise of this sketch
Rightly or wrongly.

My view is & always has been that there is plenty of room for all types of everything on Critique & the more the merrier.

Just wondering why putting some vibrancy into the forum need cause angst.

I agree that an influx of energy is a good thing.

NJ and KI are occasional things - let's not bemoan when people are actively writing and posting material onto BCG for whatever the reason.

Perhaps it's the invasive bombardment element that rankles some? You know, to the exclusion of all else, perhaps?

Quote: LippyAlison @ September 26 2012, 1:28 PM BST

.. let's be constructive, upfront and open and consider options.

Why not put all NJ and KI submissions in two respective threads only?

I only said "Jehovah" ...

Ok this is an interesting phenomenon that turns up from time to time. It's what I call "joking in the area." When a joke is seen as being off colour for merely involving a subject. Usually reserved for massive subjects like Maddy McCanne or the Holocaust. Where even if you're mocking the competences of Pria De Luz police the subject its self can not even be approached.

Except this is just a sketch show, a Sweded version of an open access Radio 4x sketch show,

Pardon me saying this, but where do you get off with your incredible arrogance in slating not the criticism. But the very notion of critcising it.

There are plenty of open Access shows on BCG asking for input. None of them seem to see the need to use critique as a lab.

It's hard to think that posters would have this stance if they didn't think years of posting gave them some sort of special status. I've been posted I don't think I have any special status.

But when I see critique filling up with carbon copy sketches for someone elses convenience. Then frankly I have no shame in making a small joke about it.

Buried in a sketch mainly mocking my own repetitive desire to get certain formats right. Sad you didn't spot such an obvious self deprecating joke in your rush to defend your step child.

And how dare you say amateur is a term of abuse? I've been involved in many amateur projects and most of my work still is. Amateur is a badge of pride.

I'm confused Sootyj, why do you feel your sketch is so slated? Yest there were a couple motions of criticism, actually I wouldn't even say criticism, just questions about the reason you chose this topic in case there was any hostility to it and you've kind of come out guns blazing. I might be missing something but I don't think your under attack Sootyj

I feel badges description of my sketch and by extension myself is an example

As is the general air of dsupport he has engendered

But you've gone at the KI team where I don't think the KI team are at fault. All other posts I've seen have been supportive (at times a little tongue in cheek but still good natured).

Not from stever other posters who deleted their pists

It was also wantonly taking my words out of context

Amateur is a badge of pride. AMEN to this sooty j :D

Wow, I've never seen Sootyj being direct and serious, I may have to take a picture - or - remember that this is on the internet and not a fleeting moment. (Not a snide comment just being cheeky :) )

Anyway. I liked the sketch, calling a character 'Skirt' made me smile, it does parody and satirise all the NJ and KI posts nicely without, I thought, attacking them. Honestly one the best things I've seen Sootyj write sketch wise. I liked it. Though I do see where Badge is coming from but to me this sketch is just wimsy.

Sorry just saw this thanks, some actual feedback!

Now, I'm the last person to defend SootyJ (or lend him a johnny) but it's more harmless satire than bitchiness. He's written about many other subjects in a similar manner and no one's complained. Unfortunately, some BCGers do seem to find it hard to swallow when they're being ribbed.

As for the sketch: It was full of clunky dialogue, had a series of exchanges which went nowhere and finished on a cheap 'get out' punchline. Not for me.

I have to agree with Ben IMO SootyJ was not mocking anybody just posting a sketch that happens include something about the rise in critique - for example I tend to only post during NJ like a lot of others - so I don't think anyone should be offended. ps don't attack me I'm very weak willed and I will turn on SootyJ if asked

I agree Ben as ever critique is my lab. In this case I like to see how clunky sketches with the minimun of distraction before the "funny lines" work.

I suppose it's sort of like Hennimore sketches sort of anti sketch.

meh did you think the other one on freelancing was better? That one I thought had more character.

nothing wrong with that, but if you post around the year you might get something in newsrevue and your writing skills may smooth out.

Quote: blahblah @ September 26 2012, 10:03 PM BST

..SootyJ was not mocking anybody..

Of course he was.. that was the whole point.. but, so what?

What are all these KI/NJ sketches doing, anyway? They're mocking people in the news, right? What's the difference?

Quote: blahblah @ September 26 2012, 10:03 PM BST

..so I don't think anyone should be offended.

Neither do I. It's all part of the game.. but it's ironic when posters like Lippy Alison get miffed, because such people love dishing it out, but they can't take it when the shoe's on the other foot. Talk about hypocrisy.

They don't like it up 'em, Mr. Mainwaring.

I agree. I do get a lot in newsrevue an treason (I define a "lot" diferently from the rest of the world) but I would improve if I posted more regular. My excuse (& it's quite weak) is that NR don't send out writers lists for a good few weeks after and I don't want to post until I know it's not been accepted, and by the time I get the writers list I've moved on. But I can not argue with you -if you post more you learn more. 100% agree
