Action Comedy Idea - Die Hard meets Hot Fuzz...

[6:35:58 PM] Andrew McInerney: Try Hard is a comedy spoof action movie about a 30 something office worker called Peter who inadvertently becomes the hero of the day when his office is taken over by terrorists.

Peter takes his job very seriously. He has worked for Milton Bank for 14 years since he left school at 16.

His first job with the bank was as an office junior for a couple of years until he was promoted to office senior. Peter worked his posterior off for several more years and became Head of the Operations department, which is just a fancy name is given to someone that runs the mail room of any bank!

Peter is proud of his job and his hard work is second to none. Although, some would say he takes his job a little too seriously.

In the 14 years Peter has been working, he's only had two sick days off, and that was because he spent an extra three hours after working on a Friday cleaning his Xerox machine - with this Peter got ink poisoning from the copier and had to take time off.

Apart from that, Peter has always arrived at work the first, and always leaves the last.

Outside of work, Peter lives a fairly sheltered life. He enjoys movies, reading (Mainly instruction manuals) and playstation.

His favourite movies are Die Hard 1 & 2 (he can't decide which one is better, is it the first one because it was original? Or is it the second one because of a totally different setting, and still worked. A dilemma he's happy to toy with until his grave)

Peter doesn't have a girlfriend, probably because of his anal ways. He did have a best friend Joseph, whom he would always hang out with and play paintball with and talk about the latest computers and call of duty games. However, their friendship came to a tragic halt when Joseph got a girlfriend.

Michal Hunt is the new temp on the job. He's 25 and materialistically has it all, the looks, the money and the car. Why? Probably has something to do with fact that his Father is also a director of Milton Bank and a valued member on the board.

Michael is young and arrogant and is only taking the job to keep his father happy and start to earn some of his own money.

Peter and Michael at first clash hard. Michael doesn't want to put in any effort into a job that he feels is way below him, and Peter, probably because he loves his job too much, is afraid to put Michael in his place at times as he doesn't want to lose his job!

Michael manages to get the whole office on his side due his cocky attitude and popular nature, something which becomes more detrimental to Peter.

Peter is about to tell Michael what he really thinks, with running the risk of getting into trouble and embarrassing himself, when terrorists take over the whole building.

The terrorists lockdown the entire bank and demand a high ransom, otherwise they will start killing hostages one by one.

Everyone in the bank are held captive in the main foyer apart from Peter and Michael who managed to hide away on the filing room.

They are almost found by a terrorist but Peter manages to kill the man with a nasty paper cut to the throat with the new hard paper files he ordered that week (ironically, he had been on at management for months to get these hard back files as the others would always break - looks like his persistence not only saved time at work, but this time, his life!)

Michael is shocked by how Peter is actually quite a brave and skilled officer worker and tags along with Peter.

Peter is now on a mission to save his colleagues armed with office stationary and broad office knowledge - these terrorists have messed with the wrong pen pusher!
