Ventures did some fantastic stuff but then they churned out so many LPs just covering all sorts of standards.

Agreed.

Seems to be a 'thing' with instrumental groups though . . .

Look at the marvelous stuff that The Shadows did and then they turn out shit like 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' 'Walking In The Air' etc . .

I think Booker T. & The MG's were a bit more consistent.

The Ventures released something like 30 albums in about 6 years.

Oops, Fats domino is 85! Happy Birthday!!

Bought that one yesterday. I so love the Allmans...that's how American music should sound.

I think today Bowie's album is going to be released.

I was giving it a quick listen in my record shop and it sounded great. Bowie ca. 79,80.

Waiting to be bought the Bowie album. I so want to get ity myself though!

Listening to Lew Lewis Reformer. Great punky blues.

Went to see Wilko Johnson Sunday night.
Blistering set, but somewhat tinged with emotion.
Ended with "Bye Bye Johhny" and all the crowd waving goodbye.

Found these in the bargain bin:

Yes - heard he's got less than a year to live. Would like to see him before he goes but probably won't get around to it.

In the meantime rediscovering Heathen and Reality.

Some great tracks on there that I'd forgotten.

Can't find Hours, Earthling or Outside. Dunno what I've done with them.

I like these two albums. Bowie seems relaxed not having to be cutting edge anymore. Just nice songs (and some good covers) and a more organic sound after the experimentation of the 90s. Heathen is a "headphone-album" (interesting layers of sound)..."Reality" is more rocking out.
From what 've heard so far the new album is more complicated again; which is good too.

I'll go to a Living Colour concert tomorrow. I wonder if the guys can still kick ass after all theses years.
