Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) will tour and realease a new album...but of course, my focus will be on Bowie's comeback.

Brilliant, is Bill Ward back on board now?

Bowie maybe 66 but his new single sounds like he's impersonating an 86 year old reminiscing about the war (the Cold one in this case).

In fact he sounds like Clive Dunn, who coincedently did an early Bowiesque sounding novelty record- Simone

Those East Germans- they don't like it up 'em.

I don't think so.

I like the song...the sentimental mood reminds me a bit of Thurday's Child. Kicking off an album with a ballad when you're not exactly a balladeer is always special.

Trust me, the West Germans don't like it either.
;) :)

I've sung their praises on the What Are You Listening To thread before, but Teenage Fanclub really are completely wonderful.

They make me so happy I could cry. Or come.

Any particular album to recommend?

Well I listened to Bandwagonesque some months ago, and it was my first introduction to them. I loved it, and found this...

...which I ordered, and listened to Grand Prix last night.

Just wonderful happy upbeat jangly pop.

Talking to Lofthouse about the band Magazine yesterday makes me want to recommend all of their albums:

Major Accidents second album Is a belter

even better though is the best of album by Blitz, they were a superb punk band that flowed very well into the new wave eventually

I never heard of them. If the music is as cool as the cover paintings then yipeeeee...

Blitz are a ludicrously underrated band

I bloody love em!

I you haven't listen to Pere Ubu yet then this little box is a good place to start; it has everything you need to know about them.

Looks like Nick Cave is going to release a new album soon...

I bought this cheap this morning. I only know Ace for their hit "How Long" and their singer Paul Carrack (Mike & The Mechanics). I didn't know they were pub rockers and not a smooth blue eyed soul band like you would ecxpect if you only know their biggest hit. Can't wait until the evening to listen to it.

I bought these two records cheaply today. I didn't know The Thrills are Irish too.

I've listened to my Divine Comedy live album this morning. Neil Hannon uses the theme tune to Reginal Perrin as intro music. How cool is that?
