In the clips the medieval stuff didn't look bad; more that the genre itself is an acquired taste, and I won't be listening to it soon either. :)

Had to respect his genuine passion for it though.

Listened to the CD in full today. Definitely an acquired taste, but I liked it. Obviously I prefer his rock work, but he seems genuinely passionate about this genre and gives it his all.

As a side note, hearing Smoke on the Water played by him was a magical experience. Same with Highway Star and Child In Time, even if the singer couldn't match Ian Gillen (though who can?)

I've just received an email!

"Gary Barlow wants YOU for the BBC's brand new series?."

I've replied to this email.

"Well I don't bloody want him!"

Aaaaaaaand Chappers wins the internet with that comment.

I don't know, I think she's cute:

I just listened to that in my car a little while ago. I love the whole 69 Love Songs album.

Have you heard their side project, The Gothic Archies?

Here's the original lot, recorded in 1969 when Liam Fox was US President:

I hadn't heard any of that. To be honest, when I'm craving semi-ridiculous lyrics sung by a hyperproductive writer I usually turn to Bob Pollard and his many projects.

Guided by Voices.

Interesting. :)

A new video and mix of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by the Beatles. It's the version that's used in the Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas.

Nice to see other Magnetic Fields fans on here. Have you seen Strange Powers, the documentary made about Stephen Merrit?
For me it's up there as one of the better music documentaries. It's been a while since I've seen it and this has just reminded me to dig it out and give it another whirl.

I've been listening to quite a bit of Morphine recently, Honey white being a personal favourite.

There's another music documentary I recommend. The death of their singer was one of the stranger deaths in music. He was playing a show in Italy and his heart gave out there and then and died on stage, not because of drugs or alcohol but because of the amount of caffeine in his system.
Apparently he pretty much lived on coffee and fags.
