Because they have to practice. The teacher can only do so much and time is limited. So if you teach an aspect (wrong word, I know) of maths, say, for a person to get a real grip of it, they have to do many examples. We've all been through that, surely? I'm the last one to stick up for teachers, but their time is so ridiculously taken up with bloody red tape and paperwork that it's a miracle they get any time to teach at all.
