Buying British

I'm trying to track down a comedy sketch from the 1980s (originally I thought it was Not The Nine O'Clock News) where a gentleman goes into a shop to buy a present for a child and is shown lots of fantastic toys. He demands that he buys something "made in Britain" and is sold a load of rubbish. Anyone else remember the sketch?

I am pretty sure it was Mel Smith doing the buying.

That's not the one you're looking for...but funny. and Mel Smith does the buying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSINO6MKtco

I do wonder if I have my memories slightly scrambled. The "Grammophone" sketch is a classic but definitely not what I was looking for.

I've been searching "Smith & Jones", "Hale & Pace" & "Fry & Laurie" and anyone else I can think of from the 80s.

I didn't dream this "buying British" sketch, but I can't find it anywhere!

Early Rory Bremner?

No news on the "Buying British" front?
