Smith and Goody

When I was a kid, I used to watch Mel Smith and Bob Goody on childrens' TV. I thought Bob's full name was Norbert...not sure if it was. Anyway, I remember watching Smith and Jones later on in life and thinking. What if Mel had stuck with Bob and carried on with Smith and Goody.

Does anyone else remember this?

Yes, Bob Goody rather fell by the wayside. An odd looking cove - tall, thin and toothy, he made a striking physcial contrast to Mel Smith. For a while you used to see him in character roles (e.g. David Jason's assistant in Porterhouse Blue), but I don't recall seeing him in anything recently.
