When a Production Company takes an interest in your script, do they presume that you (the writer) will want to appear in it? I'd love to act in my sitcom, but the sad truth is that I probably haven't got the confidence to do it.
To act or not to act?
They won't assume that unless you state that and you'll still have to audition for it. Usually if you are going to star in it you send in a clip of yourself anyway.
Acting is a craft so most people have to learn it first.

Try working with actors on a small project and then you'll see how difficult it is and they can also help you with your confidence. Like many things it looks a lot easier than it really is, and if you get them to perform your own work it will bring out things that you never thought of.

Yeah like containsnuts said, you don't mention it or go for it they won't offer it you. And if you don't have much acting experience they probably won't give it you either.
I've got no intention of acting in my stuff.
I just write the stuff and think of the famous people I want to appear in them - like Carol Royle, Montserrat thingy and Michelle Gomez.
We only act in our stuff because we can't afford the real actors.
your great actors Slags... granted you don't put on the best welsh accent in the world but you can work on that. But still... you're really good!
I think you're great actors too.
I love watching your sketches and they just wouldn't be the same without you guys in them.
I would love to act in my own sitcom. I have a wee bit of experience from the past. I might make it part of the contract.
To be honest I have no idea if I still have the ability.
Charley role-playing is not the same as acting
I'd love to go into directing.

I'd definitely ask to direct at least one episode and cameo in another.

I'll let you have a part in mine - only a small part mind!
Fankoo David.
You are a very kind man.x
Interesting topic this... I did five years' amateur dramatics and I never really got into it. Stage fright is one thing, but I always assumed I'd get to a point where I got some kind of positive thrill too and to be quite honest it never happened. I'm happier just to write stuff and see if other people want to do it. Especially Melanie C.
