Trying to remember a sitcom...

Apologies for this fairly tedious post, but I've seen people have been good at these before so I thought I'd ask about a vague memory I have of a sitcom that's been bugging me for years.

I'm pretty sure it was a sitcom anyway, British I think, would have been on around late 80's/early 90's. It centered around a man who was either dead and trying to stay on earth, or he'd sold his soul to the devil. He lived in a big house, possibly on an island, I think he may have been the house chef- there were lots of scenes in the kitchen with him talking to Death/the Devil.

I remember liking the theme tune, I think the title sequence showed the house and a choppy sea, and that's all I can remember.

My parents have denied all knowledge even though I'm sure they watched it. It definitely wasn't So Haunt Me. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of from that time period that even nearly matches is Mulberry, starring Karl Howman and Geraldine McEwan, but unless your memory has really become very garbled indeed, it's unlikely to be that either.

And not a tedious post at all. My favourite type, and the primary reason for this message board's existence, in fact. :)

Yes, I agree with Aaron. The devil was his father or something.

That's it, Mulberry! Oh wow that's great, I thought I must have made it up or dreamt it or something. Very well guessed too, I don't think my 10 year old self really understood what was going on, as much as I liked it at the time.

A couple of episodes are on YouTube, there's a river rather than a choppy sea at the start but the theme tune is cute.

Thanks!

Excellent. :)
