Dinner for One was a popular music hall routine in the UK, but never transferred to British TV. It was seen in its later days in Blackpool in the late 60s by a German TV producer who liked it so much he invited them to make the sketch for German TV.

Great clip you added to your post. They made this clip for the end of a "Watch Dog" like show as a satire to show how our politicians use the european community as their own playground of vanities and to burn our money. But it also shows exactly how popular the "Dinner For One" is here. Maybe they could put Merkel's head onto Basil Fawlty's body and the Greek's Presindents head onto Manuel...and Obama would grace Mr. bean's body then. :D But that's about it then. No one here knows "Steptoe & Son", "Red Dwarf" or "Ideal"... :(
