British Comedy Guide

Writers & Artists Yearbook

I understand the new one is out on Tuesday. Loads of info usually and useful addresses.

It's an expensive book though, isn't it?

It also doesnt list a large number of production companies, though it still is useful.

It's about £15 tops and there's a discount book shop near me that'll probably do it for a tenner.

Not too expensive if there's some useful info.

I go to the library to read and take down the stuff I want.

Good point. It may also be online.

Would maybe be useful to post the list of production company addresses it gives in a thread on here. That's me trying to get info without paying, but a good idea none the less. :)

I was just thinking the very same thing Martin. Don't tell anyone though.

I think you guys should buy it with real money.

After years of reading it in the library and over people shoulders on buses I paid up. It's worth the fifteen notes but as Matt Stott says it doesn't list all the companies (Red Productions, who made Queer As Folk isn't in my copy.

By the way, you have to ask for it in the Library, it's not on the shelves – probably because of people like Martin.

I have been a good boy and bought it several times over the years - but then I didn't know specifically what I wanted to do.

Now though I think I've found my niche. I knew I'd left it somewhere!

See it as an investment!

Hey no fair, I bought the 2006 one :). It's just that although it's got some great information most of it is not stuff I need, all I'm interested in is the list of production company addresses so it seems a bit of a waste. I'll probably end up getting it from Amazon though when it becomes cheaper.

OK - it's pay day today and I couldn't find it.

I did though get the next best thing - which may turn out to be better.

WRITERS MARKET UK 2008.

It has addresses of loads of production companies and all sorts of writers markets. 976 pages - RRP £ 12.99 and I got it for £7.99 Sussex Stationers.

You also get a free 30 day link to their web site which has updated info.

There also seems to be free trial registration to their web site which gives all the addresses in the book.
