I am trying to write a comedy diary on tumblr, the character writes whatever interests him that day. He's incredibly insecure and thinks that his 12 year old son is constantly trying to undermine him thus becoming the alpha male of the house.
I don't know if this kind of things funny and whether people will read it.

The ant entry would be better if it was inspired by seeing an ant rather than reading about the ant in the Wikipedia.
I agree...the ant one could have been inspired by you having watched an army of ants in a line marching in and out of your kitchen, carrying crunchy nut cornflakes out and into the garden...or something...I don't know. I didn't particularly find the shoe one as funny, but the idea of him hurting himself by trying to mimic an ant worked well for me. I'm not feeling much of a vulnerability where his son is concerned. I'm sure you're going to step this up a bit for future episodes. The set up is a good idea, though.
You say in your bloggy thing:

Wow! I was just browsing the World Wide Web, when I came across a site called ‘Wikipedia’. It is full of interesting facts and knowledge but this SURELY takes the biscuit. My admiration for ants just increased 10 fold!"
It would be very much funnier if the last line were:
"My admiration for ants just increased 10 - 50 fold!"
