Robin Nedwell

While watching Doctor In Charge on DVD for first time I've realised what a great comic actor he was. He wasn't bad in Doctor In The House but he came into his own on DIC IMO. Barry Evans was ok but didn't have Nedwell's charisma. He also had a dirty laugh to rival Sid's. :)

He's very underrated IMO. Great performer. Such a horrible shame that he died so young - and whilst at the doctor's too. Ugh, what irony.

I watched Robin Nedwell as a kid (me not him) and remember being totally mesmerized by the comedy in Doctor in Charge. There were so many great comedies around in those days that were fit for family viewing, with the more risque gags hidden away so carefully so as to reach the adults while causing only innocent laughs from the kids. I was always asking my parents what they were laughing at. I was always too young.

Now I'm much, much, much older it's a real treat to go back and watch these old sitcoms and relive the humour all over again. I'm always blown away by the adult humour that had obviously gone right over my head all those years ago. The thing is...writers were well aware of the restrictions and faultless with their double entendres. Nowadays, kids know so much about the world, it's almost become pointless to try to hide anything from them.

It's really nice to know people are still watching these great shows.

Very well said, Joyce. :)

Remember having a 'Look In' annual as a young kid, padded out with full page heart throb posters for the girls.

Unlike Mark Bolan and the David Cassidy lookalike from the Tomorrow People (Mike someone) I would often puzzle as to who the hell Robin Nedwell was.
