Personality test Page 11
Who isn't.
Dawn French these days.
Quote: Ignatius Rake @ July 23 2012, 3:07 PM BSTWell, that was a jolly good waste of time. Turns out I'm an ENFP like Mr Taxis, Meg Ryan and Sinbad.
Well, I only noticed Mark Twain, but Sinbad's pretty groovy - unless they mean that c**t from Brookside.
I did notice that; 'ENFPs often have strong, if sometimes surprising, values and viewpoints.'
As well as:
'They want to both help and to be liked and admired by other people... This is rarely a problem... as they are outgoing and warm, and genuinely like people. Some ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality.'
And rather poignantly:
'Some of the most soft-hearted people are ENFPs.'

I must have missed those questions on the test.
Quote: Shandonbelle @ July 23 2012, 7:11 PM BSTIt's way too broad a test to be of any viable use.
No offence, but you just don't know enough about it. Read the wiki.
Quote: sootyj @ July 23 2012, 8:55 PM BSTWell first of all Jungian psycoannalysis is an individualised process not a science. Which isn't too say that it's not powerfully effective.
But Myerss Brigg is more like McDonald inventing a fillet steak burger, with a truffle flavoured sauce. It may vaguely seem like the real thing, but its a simulacrum.
Myerrs Brigg can identify some hugely broad characteristics. That may be of some value in understanding where to start exploring your psyche.
But viewing it as a total science that gives a definitive portrait of your soul as some do. That's either unhelpful or potentially quite dangerous.
My gardener (an OU Psychosynthesis graduate) has suggested that you saying that Myers-Briggs may: 'seem like the real thing' suggests an unconscious desire to order a large Coke and rape 'thousands of women and men'.

My chauffeur (a Grimsby Polytechnic Golf Management graduate) has suggested that inventing fake gardeners to back up your arguments suggests that you am a nutty man.

I'm not sure his advice is the best.
That said the first step on the road to knowledge is to apreciate the depths of ones own ignorance.

It's far more plausible that I would have a gardener than you would have a chauffeur but yes I was lying.
Nevertheless the Myers Briggs Type Indicator is pretty accurate in my experience. It's a shame that most people's understanding of psychology is so degraded by the media and popular literature. All study of the mind is based on science and it is subject to the same analysis, verification and revision as other theoretical and investigative methodologies - it's not just 'made-up'.
There are some more personality tests here if people are interested.
Psychology is probably the most important and the most misunderstood medical non science around.
Honestly at a critical level, they can tell why some behaviours indicate can be grouped together. Drs can suggest treatment regimens that can help.
But they don't know why or how.
I mean schizophrenia is basically a collection of symptons that respond to certain medications.
CBT about one of the most effective therapies, one the NHS is investing millions in. But it basically says
"we have no idea whats wrong with you, but if we observe your behaviours find strategies for the problematic ones you'll be alright"
and you know generallythat's the case.
Pyschology and psychiatry are so important. God knows more money in them would save many lives.
But a core level they're based on observation not a deep structured understanding of underlying causes.
Andthat's how they can be so abused.
