Newsrevue

Any Newsrevue writers on here?

If you aren't then you should see the website. They pay, yes I said pay, for successful sketches so its worth submitting stuff. I've had about 5 sketches on there and looks like one is going to beat me to Edinburgh, fingers crossed.

Nice one. Fankoo AJP.

No problem. Should have said that the performers are 2 boys and 2 girls so you have to write sketches bearing that in mind.

That sounds really good had a look at their site seems like stiff competition. Who ever sold a sketch without a little competition (I don't expect a list of nameslol).

I submit quite a lot but they haven't used any of mine. I see AJP has had one used for quite a few weeks now.

Yes, I've had a little used in the past. Just started subbing again after a break from topical which began to do my head in! It's a great show- go see to get a feel of what they want, it really helps.

I used to. I did it for a few weeks every now and then, but i just kept getting board topical comedy and decided to concentrate on my own work. It's good though, interesting.

My tip WJFK is title your sketches with words begginning with I as, like you said, they used the Islamaphobia sketch for ages and the Ikea one may make it to Edinburgh. But seriously send everything topical because the sketches which personally I didn't think were as good as my others made it.

When I started out I tried Newsrevue but being new to it I had nothing used and they gave me no feedback when I asked so I stuck two fingers to them.

Might try again I think I might be funnier than I was when I started... hopefully!!

I wrote for them for about a year, getting a sketch or two in almost every performance. (Smug mode) I stopped as topical stuff isnt really what I like doing, plus it wasnt going to lead directly to anything else. Having said that, it was a great confidence boost, acting, as it did, as proof that a professional crew found what I was writing funny and were prepared to put it to the test in front of a live audience. I would recommend new writers trying them, and The Treason Show-who you can send exactly the same stuff to but are more forthcoming with advice/opinion; and more friendly in general. And they pay too!

Treason show have secured more funding so they're paying writers more money now
