They are lovely, but all these specialised Lego kits and characters nowadays is somewhat far from the original concept of Lego, where you used general purpose components to assemble specific items.

It's going back to the era of Lead Soldier toys really.

In the days before lead was considered too dangerous for kids, one of my earliest memories was that one of my uncles had several brass moulds and used to make lead soldiers for us. I remember being fascinated by molten metal. Later in my life I used to often make my own scuba diving weights by melting scrap lead in the open air on a primus stove and pouring it into moulds of alumninium or even of plaster-of-paris.

I think we can safely say that handling lead has not had any observable detrimental effect on me. Duh!

You can still use all of them with other LEGO pieces, so it still works. :)
