Tim Key

Feel free to shut this down and point me elsewhwere if it's a duplication but I'm interested to know what other people think of Mr Key.

Outside of you 'lovely comedy type people' I'm yet to find anyone who's even heard of him. I guess because he's not been on 'telly' much (apart from Cowards and Newswipe of course). But I think he's excellent. Stewart Lee is my favourite (living) comedian at he moment with Tim coming a close second and - re my other post I need to see more Daniel Kitson who might then join the battle at the top! But then there's Nick Helm too of course - this is why I can't do top five/ top ten or anything else lists!

Anyway I first saw Tim at a random comedy event doing a poem about Hitler's jeans. I then bought his book of poetry - which is excellent and saw his show at Edinburgh last year (where he's mostly in the bath) and recently at Uderbelly with Tom Basden. All completely different shows with some great filmed bits too and then another random sighting when I went to see some London Film Festival shorts and he was in one and I think he was part of the recent Alan Partridge shorts (which I missed).

I'm just surprised at how much he's done, and the variety of it at such a great standard, while still remaining a fairly unknown 'name'. Even after winning an the award at Edinburgh.

Jx

(ps After my last post re Daniel Kitson - I'll no doubt be back in two years to talk to myself even if no-one else does. :)

I liked him in Mid Morning Matters.
But not so much elsewhere.
I've never seen him live though, so I haven't seen him at his best I guess.

Tim Key is ace.

I'm a big lover of Tim Key. Saw Slutcracker at the fringe a few years back and I was crying with laughter for the full 50.

I really do love his work. I too saw him at the Fringe last year, and I've already got my ticket to see him this year. It helps that he's a genuinely lovely man in person.

His interview with Simon Amstell is so delightfully awkward: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ihO2X-oGoE

I think he's doing the same show as last year.

I didn't see his full show last year, I saw him do 10 minutes at a BBC Showcase, and I saw him do another short set somewhere else.

:D Good to see I'm not alone.

Steve go see him live!

Garry thanks for sharing that link - loved it - and the usual comments after - what is it with people leaving their uninformed comments for all to see on the internet? Erm Huh?
