The Magnificent Evans/Clarence

Has anyone seen these Ronnie Barker sitcoms. Just ordered both series on play.com. I haven't seen them, but am pretty certain I will like them as you can't fail with Barker. Look forward to seeing them.

I've got Clarence, but not TME. It's alright. Not brilliant, but a good watch nonetheless.

They both ring a bell - especially with all the docus since he died.

Well worth weatching I would think.

I've got TME. It's written by Roy Clarke – mid 80s, so he was still pretty fresh then. I think it's actually pretty good. I haven't seen Clarence since it was broadcast, but I'd agree, you can't really go wrong with Barker.

Ronnie wasn't very pleased with the writing of The Magnificent Evans. In his words, "It wasn't written as well as it could have been", and Sydney Lotterby blames the use of location shot of beautiful views.

I wasn't very impressed with The Magnificent Evans. There was very few laughs in the episodes. Clarence on the other hand was alot better.
