Is the world really going to end in 2012? Page 8

thanks pingl :)

The end of the Mayan calendar, tomorrow, doesn't really mean any more than the end of one of our Millennium calenders, then the great cycle starts again, so the worst effect would be Mayan bugs in our Mayan calendar dates on our Mayan computers. :)

Maybe the pyramids will explode or something. :)

Tomorrow is the Winter solstice, I believe, the longest night of the year, from tomorrow things ge brighter and the daylight hours get longer.. The winter solstice was the original druid & other religions start of the year; messing about with calendars is what got the start of year shifted by 10 days.

Of hang on a minute, I seem to recall that the druid year began at the spring equinox; a much better marker for a new year as all the little plants are growing and the lambs gambolling etc etc. (was it poker or roulette ? )

Apparently the Mayans aren't even worried about it.

I love the idea of spring. I wish it was like it were in da cartoons. But it's not, it's normally cold and windy and summer is promised but seems so far away and when it arrives it's gone too quickly and we're back to autumn, which pretty much feels like winter and then winter feels like a mild summer and the whole cycle repeats.

Closed thread.

I feel fine.

Not worried about the world ending in the slightest. My advent calendar goes up to the 24th - If the world was gonna end today there's no way the penny-pinching bastards at Cadburys would have put the three extra chocs in.

I would like to report that the south west is still here.

I'm dead.

Oh noes!

Theres about 3 minutes left apparently.

One minute. *twiddles thumbs*

Well I guess that's it then. Are we all present and accounted for or do we need a head count?

I'm still dead.

I'm still dead.

At least you're present.

Damn, now I've got to do all those jobs I have been putting off, you know, just on the offchance...
