I may book a short break by the sea, and a womb with a view of course.

Was a nightmare at the pub last night, standing womb only. I thank you.

And as Mary asked the inn keeper

Any womb at the inn?

I was really worried about getting my IUD replaced. I recoiled.

:D

When someone's been perfectly polite ever since she's been here, it's a bit sad that people feel the need to try and be rude to her.

I agree. Some of these comments are way over the top, but as her brand of liberalism has a slightly religious connotation, it seems to give license to angry comments.

If only she'd said she was Wiccan, then the right on brigade would have given her a free pass.

It's good to have people here who know what 'over the top' means.

Just to follow on AJ's joke about lady sex guts -

The Chinese are so worried about population control, they're going to put a cap on cervixes.

Churchill was aparently addicted to crack cocaine as well as the booze.

God bless him, I bet they had to restrain him from swimming to Germany to chin Hitler in person.

Gosh yes! And Queen Victoria used to take Cannabis for Childbirth. John Allegro in the 60's wrote a book on Jesus Christ and Magick Mushroom (Roman Mystery cults were well up on how to bring the congregation to 'God'... whatever God was fashionable at the time). And then there were the Hippies. Getting out of your head - whether through strange drugs or meditation, to find out for yourself what 'IT' is all about... really.. life, the universe, and everything...has never really went out of fashion.

Wave

I'm loving this thread. You all keep me giggling. You're great people, and great medicine too. :-)

To me - comedians are magicians specialising in laughter and practising an art.

Men with out hats, famusly made white whitches dance at their command

Wiccan dance if we want to

:D

We can dance, we can dance, everybody look at your glans.

Well said love. Anybody who doesn't agree with you must be willing to believe everything they are told by the 'press'...
So these messages from Aiwass... would you like to clear that up?

Not at all. There are a *lot* of people that only know what they read in the press about Aleister Crowley. There are others with a fleeting familiarity. And yet there are also many folks that are extremely well versed in Thelemic history and Aleister Crowley that disagree with each other. And there's no doubt about it - Crowley experimented with a wide variety of mind altering substances as well as consciousness altering practises. (P.S. hint - Morphine isn't really the drug of choice for people interested in enlightenment or the Great Work).

What would you like to know about the reception of the 'Book of the Law?' :-)

(As long as the moderator doesn't mind the conversation taking this turn, that is. I don't mind - people might get some material out of it, after all, and I don't wish to discourage people's curiosity about my favourite subject.)

Firstly P.S I don't need hints thank you.

So... You believe Aleister Crawley was chosen by some 'being' that went on to give him information for a book of laws? I'd hate to put words in your mouth... is that what you believe?

I could edit the above but that spelling my be one of those 'slips' you hear about... so I'll leave it in.

Which is your favourite characterisation of him in fiction, Janette? He's been done a fair bit here and there I think. Mine is Mocata of The Devil Rides Out. I don't know how much of him is in the characterisation but he is definitely some part of the model. Mocata is a very lurid figure. As was the public image of Crowley, a notorious man who was so for the purpose self publicity and fame, is that fair?

And on to Thelema, his sect. Do you practise free sex youreslf, or any other members when they meet? Sexual ritual? You might suddenly get some supporters here now if you tell them that side of it. :)

No. I think Aleister Crowley, as a result of various magickal practises, had a sustained burst of inspiration from himself... Have you ever found that when you're writing you get into a 'sweet spot' and you end up writing things that just seem to come to you - and even bypass 'you' at times? Well - magicians, and hermetic qabalists, and modern psychologists have some idea's about that.

Ahh that's ok then. Just plain old (fully explained) 'various magickal practices'. Makes perfect sense... I for one am completely satisfied with that as an explanation.

That is the single most perfect post I've seen on here.
The right amount of on topic preamble and... bam!
