Charley post what you like. If a moderator feels that, as a last resort, they have to close a thread then they will but this shouldn't affect users. Personally I will only ever close threads when the debate has run its course or it is descending into something unhealthy. Please post whatever you like, thats why we all love you Charley 
I closed this thread as a joke but then reopened it. I haven't closed a thread in ages (as far as I can remember). I've been tempted by the Gervais one, but I've left it open, following the rights to free speech 'n all.
I'm getting pretty bored of this whole discussion and why I resigned as Global Mod.

I agree the Gervais one was going on a bit too long. That's why I continued it on another thread!
Threads get closed for their own reasons. In the case of some recently, it's been because of the incessent bickering that an otherwise interesting topic has descended to. A lot of the time, I then sneak back and re-open them some days later. 
Certain people have been locking and unlocking threads purely for the sake of it, however, and this will cease as of now.
In regards to mods posting in locked threads, we're allowed to, 'cos we're mods. Hopefully it only happens when there's a legitimate point to be made or issue to clear up. If one wishes to make a point after closure, then PM me with what and why, and I'll consider re-opening it for you.
And as for watching what one says, I agree with Charley. Unfortunately, some members showed recently that they take everything written on these forums both literally and personally, and IMO at least, get offended far too easily. But that's a whole other discussion. Feel free to send me a private message over the matter, if you so wish.
My suggestion is to just say what you want and then it can be removed or closed by one of the moderating team if it is inappropriate.
In short, this place really has fallen to buggery now that I'm working. If you'd like to donate to the BSG (or preferably me personally...), then I won't need to work, and everything can be smiles again. PM me for info.

First off I am not knocking any mods. They are in a difficult predicament.(Dunno if that is spelt right)
They have to keep the peace. Its a job i would never want.

A particular culprit has ruined our posting. Please understand I am not moaning about mods. I love AJP and Leevil and dare I say.......... Even Aaron. (That was difficult I aint repeating that one). I just would like for us all to relax. Take a deep breath & go back to the wonderfull BSG I joined.

Poor old AJP and Leevil have a fooking hard Job. Oh and SlagA he is a mod too. Its hard. But The thing I love most is that we can banter & disagree & moan. YET. Still be friends in the morning.

But you have to remember, people from all over the world look at this site and as it gets more popular. It needs to appeal to everyone to make it successful.
People will be turned away from non-comedy related discussions such as, "What's your favourite thing about the Holocaust?"
Keep things light and upbeat, leave the heated debates for the pub.
We don't want to be censors, but the moderating team does want a fun and interesting place and we'll do what we gotta to make it that way.

I agree with this.
But I do find it pretty hard to follow who has said what when people change their names all the time. If you really want "people from all over the world" to "look at this site"... "as it gets more popular" then it does need "to appeal to everyone to make it successful".
I'd like to know in what way people changing their names makes the site more accessible, rather than more cliquey.

Sorry Badge, it's just a bit of fun. I didn't realise it would cause such confusion, I'll change it back, although Charley and David are free to change theirs as they want, as long as they don't abuse the ability.
