Bless This House Page 12

Still holding up very well, I'm noticing a lot of them are Carla Lane and Myra Taylor penned, definitely the funniest stuff I've seen by CL. It's light and jaunty and funny and all that most so called sitcoms today aren't. Proper light entertainment to come home and unwind to, no drugs or heavy relationship issues, no drama, no shoehorned in politics, no swearing. A good old fashioned primetime sitcom. :)

Another thing that makes me laugh now, the setting of Putney for a couple of non professional class families, (Sid and his next door mate are both very working class). They'd have trouble buying a house there now. Definitely moved in at the right time.

I think Sid was a bit more lower middle class than his working class Rentaghost mate but not as middle middle class as Terry and June when they moved in next door in the film version. I'm still pining for Sally Geeson to this day, if I'd have been about 17 and lived near her, she'd have been my dream girlfriend. The scene where she puts out the fire in the garden... Oh deary me!
