This is an interesting topic - which well-known situation has not yet been covered? Like Pete says pretty much everything from Families to Dinnerladies has been done.
I'm not sure there's been a fireman sitcom yet? A pilot recently was set around that premise, but not a full series?!?
I was going to start a thread like this but last night I actually came up with a a couple of ideas which I’m keeping to myself... but staying original especially with spending constraints is near impossible nowadays... to some extent you have to reheat old formats but with a new twist if you want to really get anywhere.

Setting fire to things legally is an expensive process?
Pubs, Taxi Drivers, Space! have all been covered a fair amount too.
Don't think there's ever been a sitcom about horse jockeys. I got that idea from the script they propose in Larry Sanders. 
I don't think there's been a sitcom about Fireman either. Still, we've got Fireman Sam to keep us entertained.
That's the thing though isn't it. if any of us get an idea we keep it to ourselves until we've got something completed.
Regarding Firemen there was of course London's Burning which was comedy drama with a lot more emphasis on the Drama.
Ha look out for about 5 different Fireman related sitcom scripts to pop up on the Critique forum within the next few days.

I was thinking about this actually. What I was going to suggest was write a scene or sketch involving you favourite sitcom character. With the previous winners chosen topic.
I'll add this to the list for the week after or this weeks.
Remind us at the time. Some of us are older than others!
