I use Microsoft Frontpage and I have very little knowledge (generally 
), it was just trial and error. That's about the 9th design, until I became somewhat happy/bored. It's pretty easy to use I suppose, just have a play around and you'll soon pick up enough to build a basic website.
The .co.uk, cost me about £5 (including VAT) for two years and you get loads of free stuff with it, including free web space with no advertising. You get loads of tools, options and web templates so you don't need to build from scratch.
