Justin - Like most teenagers Daniel Radcliffe spent his youth wearing ridiculous clothes and experimenting with potions - .but the only ASBO he got was A Stupendous Bank Overview. He is now grown up and the star of new horror flick The Woman in Black. Welcome Daniel

Daniel - Before we start can I just say I don't want to talk about Harry Potter. I'm moving away from that

Justin - Of course. Your new movie..

Daniel - (Interrupting) I can't walk down the street without muggles shouting "oi Potter" at me

Justin - If you had a pound, right - oh wait you do. So The Woman in Black was a play before transferring to the big screen. Were you aware of it before you took the role?

Daniel - (As if JUSTIN asked the question) "What's JK Rowling like in real life"?

Justin - I didn't say...

Daniel - I'd have to say a little ungrateful. I made her a lot of money

Justin - Back to The Woman in Black. Did you have to audition for the part?

Daniel -You know I wrote a lot of my own lines for the Harry Potter movies. For instance in the one where parents felt comfortable fancying Emma Watson the script said "hello" but I mixed it with "Hi"

Justin - Okay. The Woman In Black is in cinemas now. What's next for you?

Daniel - I'm thinking of doing something more serious, trying to get away from Harry Potter. Maybe Macbeth

Justin - Or as actors say "he who must not be named"

Daniel - (Angry) You couldn't resist mentioning Harry Potter could you. I just want a normal life!

I liked this blahblah. The "if you had a pound" and "he who must not be named" bits in particular. Unlucky.

Good idea, but I think I would have written it so that his own identity has become merged with that of Harry Potter.

On a pedantic note do actor refer to MacBeth as "he who must not be named"? (I know MacBeth is referred to as "the Scottish Play".)

Yeah think they do refer to it as scottish play, I was just playing on the fact you can't say his name - the fact it wasn't in meant it didn't work ha I did think about doing it as a he thinnks hes harry but thought just wanted to twist it with he wants to talk about harry potter not the interviewer

Liked the whole idea of this, and the length, and the line 'the one where parents felt comfortable fancying Emma Watson'.

I like this too. They tend not to do too many 'celebrity' interviews on Newsjack from what I recall. They might do something like a movie trailer of The Woman in Black but with him obviously still playing Harry Potter; that's probably the angle I would have taken with the same idea.

Not that it matters, as this was quite well done.

Dan

Thanks dan. Actually I was thinking the other day that I should try to write more sketches that aren't interviews. Think I'm drawn to interviews because it's easier for exposition and more banter-esque jokes. Only sent one interview this week & that was the hardest to write so discount all above!
