Christ! Is f**king Authonomy still going?

Yep -- until Harper Collins keels over (and I can't see that happening any time soon), I'm sure it will be :)

The description of that book makes it look about as funny and original as the Book of Mormon (moronic religious text not the sell out musical).

Fortunately all the other writers on the site like it.

So it must be hilarious.

Some inspiration for you. :)

Any others?

A Confederacy of Dunces is the cream of comedy.
Its language might be a tad dated and parochial but if you stick with it for ten pages you will enter one of the finest comedy minds ever.

As for the writer, like so many of us his words went unread and like some do he sadly killed himself.

The book was taken around publishers by his mother who knew that what her son had written was a true classic and this was proven once the book was eventually published.

A truly wonderful and funny story capable of making your eyes water with laughter a fete everyone on these boards know is very hard to achieve.

I loved Stephen Fry's 'The Hippopotamus' - both very funny and full of sharp observations about life, poetry, the relationship between men and women, etc.

Also, Sandi Toksvig's 'The Chain of Curiosity' which is a collection of her columns is informative like QI and funny if you're into her kind of humour.

Richard Gordon novels Doctor in the... which the sitcom stemmed from. He has a very wicked (and often crude) sense of humour. And a lovely man to boot.

Peter Tinniswood is very overlooked now. A Touch of Daniel, I Didn't Know you Cared, Call it a Canary...

Anything by Danny King.

Not a "comedy novelist" as such, but if you want something dark and edgy with a punk attitude, try Charles Bukowski. He can make me laugh out loud. I re-read POST OFFICE not long ago, and that was pretty funny in places.
