The last refillable (for loose powder) compact I bought was from the local chemist's shop, but that was ages ago as it's lasted forever.

I know Besame do them but they are a bit pricey and tiny.

Anyone have strange 'superstitions? I found a king of hearts playing card in the pub car park, but had to keep it? felt it would give me luck? odd I know, that kind of silly thing.

Aren't pubs supposed to have a playing card stuck somewhere on the ceiling for good luck? Maybe theirs fell off and you've taken their luck Have you checked if it has burned down?!
