Hello, I'm dellas, and after much thought, decided to begin here!

Please feel free to express opinions, free of 'didactic' allusions to the 'perceived' expression of comedy.

I sincerely hope we can enjoy discussing interesting exchanges without the intervention of folk that find this a 'really strange' thread, and hence 'hijack it', with smut.

The guys can, of course, begin their own.

Just feels right that we should have a little bit of space?

OK I'll begin with a story that upset me, the reported news in papers, about the Pakistani girl who was kidnapped and abused for 10 yrs? Cannot believe this has been 'uninvestigated' and allowed to continue for so long...?

But I think this thread may be intended more as a 'Woman's Hour' than a 'Loose Women' that is the existing Ladies Thread, which is on the opposite end of the scale. Am I right, Dellas? And as you should have your own catchy title like the others, may I suggest, before I quickly take my maleness away from here, 'FLAPS' (females left alone pontificating seriously).

I don't see why the men should be excluded from discussion like this - the implication is that only women care about the mistreatment of women, and I don't think that's true. Perhaps what you really want is a 'serious discussions' thread, not a 'women only' thread.

Please don't take this the wrong way....

- I have no problem with a thread that wants to exclude males from a serious discussion (I have just woken up and may be getting the wrong end of the stick!? Its the title of the thread that makes me feel unwelcome), but I do wonder why this thread was started in the "general comedy" section given the nature of your second post in this thread.

And forgive me ladies, for my very rare foray into the depths that many others here are rarely out of. I was acting more like a vulgar Stuka dive bomber than a graceful and dignified Supermarine Spitfire mark IV. Morning.

Oh God Dellas ...as the youngest from a family six girls and two boys I enjoy the free for all mix of the sexes...I'm not quite ready for the WI yet....having said that, there is this really nice plum nail varnish I spotted in Superdrug the other day...

So long as the women can post here and nowhere else, fine.

What about a 'Serious Topics' forum/thread like they have on another comedy website?

Here we go! Sorry Harridan, Bill, Will, David,and Danny,I don't know where this should be then?... I never said anyone was 'prevented', just hated the thought that some people like to 'spoil' serious talk here, and was trying to address that serious problem.

Fail!- deluded silly women for even suggesting this idea.

Well, if you think it is bad, can you advise where I, and other like minded women can talk without feeling that a creepy 'troll' will appear? I have had lots of PMs stating that this a problem that needs addressing .

Well- struggling now you say this idea is wrong, and it was an idea, it is open for discussion, that is why I chose 'general'.

Am I 'lost in Translation' again? Well, I can only try to resolve a perceived problem, NOT to begin them.

Will see what transpires, if most folk think the idea is a bad one, I will be defeated in my quest and comply with the vocal majority.

Perhaps it's about how the BCG works? Some of the most enlightening discussions on unacceptable humour, political correctness etc have happened on this forum. And it has been in part because of the humour. Humour is a wild capricious thing by it's very nature.

For me the absence of comedy is not the presence of seriousness, all to often it is the presence of anger.

If you want a thread where off topic comments are greyed out. Then ask Aaron nicely and make a good case. Thing is I doubt many people will post in it.
