INTREPID FOX
THE LOBSTER SHERINGHAM
French House doesn't have enough seating, we should save Intrepid Fox for another outfit outing, and unless you arrange a coach and accommodation for us all we aren't going to Sheringham. Next suggestions!
Please bear in mind I have to travel for an hour on the bus to Folkestone...get the train to Charing Cross for an hour and 20...then get on the tube to wherever you are. So...please make it simple...old brain cells here...and a dodgey leg. I'm not bothered about the traveling, just the fact I won't be able to get there as early if I spend most of the time on the journey. Have to make sure to catch the last trains home too. Maybe, we should just skype.
By the way...I have a 20s frock and headgear, but the charleston is out the question.

Splutters!!!
The Holly Bush Hampstead!

AJGO, You don't have to go for both days and some people can travel there and back in one day. It might be warm enough for a picnic on the green at lunchtime or mid afternoon for any late arrivals or those who need to leave early. It is quite often hot there that weekend.

I don't have any 40's gear, it's not compulsory. I have difficulties with getting to Manchester or London Joyce so it looks like more than one venue is the only way some of us are going to meet and I would rather meet some than none. It's likely that me and my hub will be going to Sheringham on one of those days, depending on a couple of things.

Ooh, outfit excitement.
What time do you reckon you'll be in central London?

The Holly Bush Hampstead!
Nice suggestion, but not near our side of Regents Park. Maybe Bree Louise again? Outdoor seating, can reserve indoor seating, lots of beers.
Does anyone coming to picnic object to walking for approx 15 mins?
I can walk for as long as you like, I just can't stand still. We'll be there early evening I should think. It would be great to get somewhere as near to the overground route I'm taking from Folkestone. I don't know any pubs in central London. Plus we have to get the train home too! If everyone wants to go somewhere further afield, don't worry about us...we'll try to get to the next one.
This seems to be what Google Maps thinks is the nearest pub.

Queens Head & Artichoke

The reviews look good.
I found it by going to Google then Maps and entering [Pubs near Regent's Park Tube Station, Marylebone]

Whereabouts in Regent's Park were you thinking of picknicking?

While I'd certainly be delighted to go to Sheringham for a meet with you and others at some point, there are too many people attending London drinks on 22nd for rearranging to be feasible. It's like herding blimmin cats I tells ya

For the last time Billwill, we are not nicking any picks. We may be your beer bitches but we are not your tool tarts.
Not thinking too much in depths of park, wherever we plonk ourselves on grass!
I was thinking Bree Louise cos of the outdoor seating if it's nice weather, and cos it's right next to train station and on Northern Line so easy for Joyce to get to and be able to find us..
Yes...sounds okay to me. Anywhere near to Charing Cross is fine with me. I will confirm my boy can come and let you know as soon as poss if he can't. He's already said yes, so it looks like all's well.
Actually, thinking of going to St Pancras now...looks like it only takes an hour, rather than one hour and twenty...and getting on Victoria line to Warren street?

Yeah, it is a bit short notice and close to the other date but hopefully sometime we can arrange it. I am being optimistic when I say I am going to the 40's weekend - it's been marked on the calender for ages but I'm still stuck in bed at the mo.

If you're going to Kings X then either pub is on tube line for you.
Who has a preference? I really don't mind, Bree is nice, also be nice to go to new pub
ps. Thanks for sorting out the quote zooo
Queens Head & Artichoke seems to have outside benches too, judging by Street View. I've not been there to the best of my recollection.
I plump for this something new, with Spanish aspects (tapas).
Joyce, from KingsX,St Pancras take the Circle etc tube to Gt Portland St. That is a little closer to Regent's Park tube station.
ALGO, the picks are needed to dig a new tunnel from the park to the pub.
So we all agree there will be a pub involved?
Quote: Shandonbelle @ September 6 2012, 10:41 PM BSTSo we all agree there will be a pub involved?
Ah go on Shandy, you know how rarely we all drink
So if groovy with everyone, we'll meet at 3pm Regents Park Tube, cross over to park for nibbles and drinkies, then meander to Artichoke for 5.30pm-ish?

Hee, that actually sounds fun. But then I was the sort of child who'd happily entertain myself for hours digging holes just to see how far I could get. Never did manage to reach the centre of the Earth
