British Comedy Guide

Newby asks a question...or two.

Hi Guys,

I have visited this site numerous times and read lots, but have not had the bottle to join.
Like a lot of you out there I am mad about comedy and have the DVDs and the lack of living room space to show for it.
I also enjoy writing comedy and have written and performed sketches on stage for the local Scout & Guide 'Gang Show' in the past (I know dib, bib, etc)

Enough of the waffle.. I have co-wrote a serial radio sitcom and have recorded it with some actors and edited it and put it onto a website, but have tried promoting it on the social networks which has had some degree of success, the question is how do I get it to a wider audience??? And also could I put the link on here???
Ok I know that's two questions but any answers????

Hello

Stick the link in critique if you want feedback or showcase if not (but you'll probably still get it).

As for promoting it? uhm try putting shorter samples out on YouTube etc, people will be more likely to listen to a couple of minutes?

I dunno that's the tricky one.

Goodluck.

Thanks for your advice!!!! I have broken the sitcom down to roughly 10 minute pieces and the three parts for Ep 1 are on YouTube. I will get them on the showreel bit of this site to get some opinions as although I am getting the hits on my website for it and the other two recorded episodes I am getting no feed back.

Cheers

If you can do 5...

Try promoting it on showcase.

Might find that a bit tricky as it has been written as a serial with a kind of signing off bit at the end. The only reason it was done as a serial was for the exact kinda reason that people would not listen to a 30 min radio sitcom in one hit and 10 minutes might be more digestible.

As for putting it on the showcase should I add a link to the first episodes which are on you tube? Or add a link to my actual web page for the sitcom where people can get a bit more detail and listen to all of the episodes currently recorded at present...is that allowed????

Yep, you can add links to both those things.

If you are after some feedback, best to start a thread in Critique, rather than Showcase. :)

Ta,

I think I will put the link to the website out there as then people can see what I am doing, plus I won't need to get all of the other episodes put on You-tube yet.
