Yeah I do like The Office a lot, I have the boxset but I would never call it 'genius' or 'original'. And also Extras has somewhat tainted my enjoyment of The Office. But yes I think it's used sparingly in The Office with more emphasis on the actual characters who are written very well, but in Extras the characters are very poor so the jokes come at the expense of minorities and arrogant celebs.

Sadly Gervais does trade on the embarrassment too much.

He's proven he can do 'gags' with Tim in the Office. ("That's seen a lot of action . . . Dusting mainly.") and with agent-Barry partnership in Extras.

I for one can find anyone I like funny. Its my mouth & my noise that goes hahahahahaha. MINE.

I think RG is hilarious. The success of 'The office' means I am not alone. I can watch it over & over again. In the same respect of F. Towers & OFH.

Loved Extras. Adored the Pods. Laughed at the book. Cried myself into a swimming contest at his stand up.

Leevil ask yourself why you didn't have the same reaction as Tim? Its because, as SlagA said, the TV screen distances the viewer from the program. If it happened in real life then you would not laugh. Also Tim reacts but passively so you could say hes just as guilty as Brent for not standing up to his beliefs by challenging him.

EDIT: I'm not saying RG isn't funny but its the constant focus on minorities which worries me a bit. Either its a vain attempt to be edgy or worse. A good example of how it should be done is something like Curb where Larry is completely open about his prejudices and is usually the victim in the comedy rather than the minorities.

I think with Extras, the idea sounded better in his head. I can't deny the blatant use of "celebs", definitely cheapens it, but *ironically* some of the celebs are actors, so I think on some level it is justifiable. Most of them played "big-headed actors" but isn't that what most actors are?

Yeah but child like ignorance is only ok if you are a child. Yes I understand that it may be difficult for old fashioned people to adjust to modern ways but i'm a facist when it comes to people being treated equally which is why I don't vote Tory Hehe i'm now working anti-tory comments into my posts.

That's why I laugh AT his ignorance.
