Newsjack - Series 6 Page 65

I'm really worried that I'm not going to get anything on this series - despite really tryng :( - has anyone found that they sumitted a sketch (which they knew could have been tightened up a little) and still got it on?

Hands up who did a Konnie Huq Baby Naming Scandal sketch.

All of mine needed tightening. None of them got on. In hindsight, most of them needed tightening into a small ball and throwing in the bin, but you can't delete 'em once you've sent 'em.

My last series 6 sketches off as well.

EU crackdown on Somali pirates.
The army driving fuel trucks and
the Kazakh anthem/Borat debacle

Feeling nostalgic already. Now I have to go away and summon the discipline to write something longer than a page, like a sitcom.

Re tightening. Everything always needs a good edit. And more than one. Not only from you but the script ed. From what I hear (and from my limited experience) the script eds on Newsjack do make sketches tighter and funnier and punch up the gags. Really interesting to see with your own work. Perhaps those who got sketches on this series (unlike me!) would show us a before and after in critique?

Is anyone else feeling a bit fatigued after six weeks of Newsjack?

Yep, it's the frustration that some weeks you have fantastic ideas and the next week nothing. I'm looking forward to have my weekends back!

Yep I know what you mean. Felt a bit washed out trying to write some sketches this week. In the end went with;

A really really short one about the Julian Fellows version of Titanic
Simon Cowell's break in
Granny Tax

Usually am by this stage, but not this time (perhaps on account of not submitting much this series!!).

That said I note in the Wiki entry that the first series was originally planned to be 10 episodes; don't know if it's true, but glad they settled on 6!

3 off for me - Cruddas, Asma europe ban & alcohol price. Now one liners

Family commitments meant I wasn't going to do anything this week but, buoyed by a Treason sketch credit (my first writing credit of any kind ever), I'm going to see what one liners Mr Kronenburg and I can come up with tonight.

Good luck everyone.

Congrats on the credit! Nice one!

Dan

My hopes lie on one particular sketch that have a lot of brief Grams - a gamble but after the use of The Proclaimers on last weeks episode I thought it was worth a throw of the dice

I'm guessing that "Cameron plumbing hitherto unknown depths" is this week's joke to avoid?

Yep.

*screws up paper and goes back to Jordan gags*

I've just submitted 10 one-liners - which means I'm now officially finished, as far Newsjack series six is concerned.
