Favourite series of Reginald Perrin?

I have the first series which on the whole is good. It's been a very long time since I have seen the second series onwards, and I am planning to buy more in the future. So at the moment I am not in a position to give a definitive answer at present.

Would be interested to hear from fellow members what is their favourite though?

It may go some way to helping me what one to buy.

Apologies if there is a thread on this already, but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks

Always preferred the first series myself.

Series one. That was an easy one.

The third - for the (brief) appearance of FJ alone!

Series 2.

Why? In a word, 'Grot'.

Series 1 and 2 are both absolutely superb.

Series 3 is quite good but unfortunately the central idea is nothing like as inspired.

Legacy of Reginald Perrin didn't work but it still has some amusing moments (mostly featuring Geoffrey Palmer).

The Legacy of Reginald Perrin... It should've worked... And it didn't. Total shit.
The problem with these series is they're not written to go on and on like Bored Of The Rings. They do everything in the first bout and because they're successful, more is commissioned so they have to eke stuff out. It's Classic Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy syndrome. The first bout of Perrin is almost perfect, at least until it loses the pressure cooker intensità of the office and the home. The second is a bleached-out copy, repeating the same situations/catchphrases, but forcing them onto alternative characters. The third is amusing, but it's just a series of silly scenes, without the plot and character development of a full sitcom. File under Filthy, Rich and Twatflap. And no one ever expected The Legacy to work, did they?
