Edinburgh Free Fringe - How to get on one

Good morning All,

Just a quick question? I am currently looking into getting onto the free fringe at Edinbrugh (hopefully next year) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience of this or has done it themselves?? If so, how do I go about getting on one and does a 'free fringe' exist??

If you could let us know I would be very grateful to know how to do it and more importantly is it worth doing it??

Many thanks,

Jason

There's the Free Fringe, http://www.freefringe.org.uk/ run by Edinburgh legend, Peter Buckley Hill and the Free Festival, http://www.laughinghorsecomedy.co.uk/dynamic/festival.asp, run by Laughing Horse supremo, Alex Petty.

Do a bit of research and decide which is best for you.

If this is going to be your first Edinburgh I would advise against doing a solo one hour show, perhaps join up with one or two other acts and put on an hour between you, 55 mins (the average length of an "hour long show") is a long time for people to sit through one comedian, especially if the longest they've performed for before is 10 or 20 minutes.

Hi Tony,

thanks for your response, I'm probably looking towards splitting an hour between another 3 acts so doing a 15 minutes set tops but, I'm just trying to get some exposure/ experience the fringe without it costing me a bomb. I'll look into the two contacts you've given as I'm also looking into the Brighton Fringe and will let you know how it goes!!

Many thanks,

Jason.

Alex/Laughing Horse also run shows at the Brighton Fringe so it might be worth sending him an email, I know that he's already starting to book up for May next year.

Shit tonnes of information here. And a very interesting read, anyway.
