Teachers

Think back to your school days.
Who are your most memorable Teachers & why?
Did you have a cool one who insisted on being called by their first name, a mean one who made you feel crappy, or a genial relief teacher that you drove to suicide.

What are your favourite memories of your Teachers at school.

Mr Lee was an awesome middleaged hippy who was always whipping out his guitar in lessons and making us sing songs from the '70s instead of doing lessons. Or playing 'I can guess that tune in 3' (what the hell is that game called?)

No first name terms in my convent school, run by the Sisters of Mercy, though some of them were not all that merciful! We had one who shouted 'woe betide' a lot, another elderly one who occasionally fell off her high stool chair and a head nun who was small and quiet but I feared the sight of her.
By the time I left school, we had a quite a few more modern ordinary civvy teachers, though some of them were mad as hatters. My art teacher was my favourite, never being much good at art, she was very encouraging about one particular painting I did of a beach...but in order for it to look better, she suggested I cut it in half and just keep the waves!

My favourite teacher of all time only taught me for the last 7 months of Primary school, but they were the most memorable 7 months of my whole time at school. She joined after the Christmas holidays, after my original teacher had left to accept a Deputy Head position at another school. When this new teacher arrived, she introduced a few new things, e.g. a Drama lesson every week, which I really made the most of, after getting over some initial shyness. Actually it seemed to work wonders for everybody, as even the quietest of kids seemed to really get into it afer a while. It was that weekly lesson that gave me the comedy bug, because I regularly got big laughs from my classmates. She also introduced something called the "Interest Lesson", where each week kids could bring an interesting object in and talk about it. Again, this fed my craving for attention from my classmates, and I actually won first prize more than anyone else. The third thing she introduced was a Friday afternoon quiz. My best mate was in the class next door, and I used to always rub it into him about how much fun we were having with this new teacher, compared to him and his class.

Had a horrible relief teacher the last year of Primary School. If two people were talking or acting up in class, she she would give the entire class detention. In the end everyone started to act out because it didn't matter if you were behaving or not you still got punished.

One of my favourite teachers in High School, realised that not everyone can get an A+ and valued effort. Even if you had basically failed a test or assignment, if he knew you had worked really hard, he would find the one thing you did right tell you.
