Kotter

Did anyone watch this show? John Travolta was in it. I enjoyed it. Anyone else?

Ah yes
Hans Kotter
Germanys answer to James Cotter
You may remember him from such productions as Das Adventures Mit Jeremy Sweitzer & Back to Klaus

Finck would hate that translation.

It's not a patch on "Welcome back to class Cotter"

Sorry, sorry
I haven't seen it.

Me neither.

The show was called Welcome Back, Kotter and the star was Gabe Kaplan, at the time a respected comedian. From that confident opening I head back downhill to whence I came. Ed Simmons, Norman Lear's partner, ran it and Gene Perret was one of the writers for a while. It was on in the 70s when I was living in New York and I'm not sure I watched it very often. Kotter was an ex-pupil of the school invited back to teach a particularly rough bunch called the Sweathogs. Great gags, as always in US shows, and Travolta was good. John Sebastian of the Loving Spoonful wrote the theme song which was a big hit.
